The Conservative Party of Saratoga County has filed suit against the Democratic Party and the county board of elections declaring the certificate of nomination of Robert J. Logan III as a candidate for Saratoga County District Attorney is “invalid.”

They claim that Logan “is not qualified to be designated for nomination for Saratoga County District Attorney on the Democratic Party line” and ask that the court strike Logan’s name from the ballot.

According to the suit, the rules require a seven-day notice of a meeting that will nominate a candidate for office. They allege in the suit that the Democratic committee did not meet at all, let alone give the required seven-day notice and therefore, without a meeting, there could be no quorum for a meeting in which a person would be nominated.

Saratoga Springs Democratic Party Chair Otis Maxwell said the committee met Thursday evening Aug. 14 and established a fund to fight the case and that they believe a meeting held in February was enough to allow the nomination
