Officers with U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement worked this morning in Saratoga Springs. It is unclear if they detained anyone.
According to Saratoga Springs Police Dept. Lt. Paul Veitch, at about 6 a.m. ICE “advised us they were going to be in the area.”
SSPD did not participate or help in any way, Veitch said. That ICE would be working in the area was all of the information that SSPD received, Veitch said, adding, that he “couldn’t tell you who, couldn’t tell you what, couldn’t tell you where.”
The Saratoga County Sheriff’s Department also said they did not participate in any ICE activity today.
We were told by a tipster that they believe two men were taken at about 9:15 a.m. in the area of Congress Park, but that number whether true cannot be confirmed.
ICE has held people from this area at the Montgomery County Correctional Facility in Fultonville.
“We haven’t gotten any inmates yet today,” said a deputy at that jail. “You can give us a call back in a couple of hours,” to check if any have arrived.
We have reached out to ICE via email but have not yet heard back. We will update this story as needed.
