City, CSEA reach MOU

2025 is halfway done, and the city and the CSEA employee union have reached an agreement that updates their memorandum of understanding, a document that lapsed at the end of last year.
The new contract runs retroactively from January 2025 through the end of 2028. It includes a 3.5% per year pay increase. Union members at the top of the payscale will earn $163,673 this year. New employees start at $30,089.
Employees receive 13 paid holidays per year and accrue vacation time at 10 days per year in the first year, 15 days after completing five years, 20 days after 10 years, 25 days after 15 years, and 30 days after 20 years of service.
In a quick interview after the contract was approved, Lisa Watkins said she was happy with the contract. She is the president of the city hall unit and the Local 846 unit of the CSEA.
CSEA is the largest affiliate union of the American Federation of State, County and Municipal Employees, which in turn is one of the largest affiliate unions of the international the AFL-CIO, according to the CSEA website.
